    Zermatt, Switzerland

Hiking in Switzerland had been high on my bucket list. There are so many beautiful places to hike in Switzerland, so I wasn’t sure where to go first. I decided on Zermatt because I had read the most about Zermatt and Matterhorn. Ideally, I wanted to try to summit Matterhorn, but it’s quite technical so another time! High season for hiking in Zermatt in mid to late June through the middle of September. I was hoping it would be cheaper since it was technically out of season, but it was still pretty pricey. I flew into Zurich and took the train to Zermatt, but you can also fly into Geneva…

    Canary Islands, Spain

I went with my family to Tenerife, not expecting the best weather in early April, but we got pretty lucky. It was warm enough most days to lay by the pool, and while it was freezing, we even went into the ocean. We stayed on the south side of the island, and to be honest, we didn’t do much exploring. I had wanted to do some hiking while we were there, but it was nice to just completely relax and unplug. One morning we went for a run along the water in Alcalá, which has gorgeous black sand beaches. The only other “activity” was going into San Juan town for really…

    Slovenia

I had heard hiking in Slovenia was spectacular, so I convinced two friends to take a trip out to Slovenia. We flew in and out Ljubljana, so spent a night on each end of the trip there. I definitely recommend renting a car in Slovenia. It’s not expensive, it’s the same side of the street that I’m used to (driving on the right side), and the signs and roads make it an easy country to drive in. I’m sure it’s not that difficult to get from Ljubljana to Lake Bled via public transportation, but it definitely made it easier and there were a few other spots we went that I’m…

    Champagne, France

A bunch of us decided to go to Champagne in France on weekend, as it’s not that far from London. We left London Friday morning around 6:30am, took a bus to Dover, took the ferry from Dover to Calais, and then drove to Reims. It was a time consuming trek for sure, and I don’t recommend it. But, it was fine for a group of us on a budget. We were staying the weekend in Reims, so when we arrived we did a tour of Reims. It’s a cute little French town, but not much there. The next morning, we started off early at the most beautiful vineyard, Champagne…

    Belgium

Eurostar runs promotions every few months, making it super cheap to take the train around Europe. We took the Eurostar from London to Bruge (changed trains in Brussels) for a little weekend getaway. To be honest, I didn’t  know much about Belgium, except for my chocolate eating knowledge, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. For a change,  I didn’t plan out every moment of the trip and figured I would go with the flow of what the others wanted to do. We ended up switching onto the wrong train in Brussels, so it took us a bit longer to get to Bruge than we anticipated. Once we got…

    Mallorca, Spain

This was my first adventure to a European beach, and I was so excited. I went with a few friends, and we rented a house on AirBnB. The house was so old-school Spain. I felt like I was living in a different era, but it was the perfect place for ten of us to stay for the weekend. We unfortunately didn’t do much sightseeing on this trip, as it was so short, but we did drive by the Palma Cathedral a few times. It’s this massive cathedral, and completely breathtaking. Next time, it would be worth walking around a bit more, and I hear there are great hikes throughout the mountains…
